WEEK FOURTEEN

Monday, 17th February

Pav’s back complete with new propshaft from nottingham. - The curse has been lifted and it’s all action to catch up on lost time from last week, plus Roger the painter has been booked for this coming weekend to apply 5 coats of undercoat, base coat and laquer to the chassis come what may, so it’s got to be ready by Saturday lunchtime or it will get painted anyway !!

The steering box is re-aligned and mounted on a Pav special bracket. A new boomerang shape steering arm is fitted to the front axle stub to allow the shocker to run inside the turning circle of the steering mechanism. The drag link is MAN one end and ERF the other, so this has to be grafted together to be a complete, strong drag link

So thats the steering geometry sorted and finished, after much debate over many weeks !! All in one day.

We need then to fabricate the exhaust smoke box mounting brackets, together with the rear shock absorber brackets, side guards, rear axle - tramp bar and much, much more, all by Friday night.

Saturday AM is spent preparing the chassis for painting and vacate the workshop by 12.00 for Roger to take over and apply his many year’s experience of applying paint. I kept having a look in the workshop Sat. PM and Sunday checking the room temperature and colours and finishing touches of this metallic heavily laquered lump of steel

End of week 14 - 6 weeks to go.
