WEEK TWELVE

Monday, 3rd February

And it’s February already.

The transporter trailer has had it’s new roof fitted at the body builders, so I took Kenny Kenworth out for a run first thing Monday to blow the cobwebs back out of her exhaust stack to pick it up. This season will be drier in the box then.

Back at the workshop it’s all action with large and long sections of heavy metal being cut to lengths to fabricate the under chassis frame. The idea of this frame is to stiffen up the chassis and to generally lower the centre of gravity as we intend to mount the engine and gearbox within the cradle frame, making the truck handle like a go kart.

Photos of this frame for you to see is a problem as our design is all new and Pav wants to keep it quiet for a while, although if you visit a truck race meeting this year you will be able to see it first hand.

This took all week to fabricate and fit - with the engine being hoisted in to align and manufacture the engine mountings. By the end of the week my drivers seat and steering column was in the cab but not necessarily in the right position or order as shown in photo.

Later in the week I make contact via email to my friendly engine supplier across the other side of Europe in the Czech republic. On what's what on their race team for this season for the 1st time this year.

End of week 12. - 8 weeks to go.

My race engineers are telling me my truck will be finished end of March. I’ll go on praying because I think they are having a laugh !!
